The curriculum at Braeside is consistent with the Curriculum and Assessment in Scotland National Guidelines issued by the Scottish Executive Education Department and follows Aberdeen City Guidelines. The Curriculum may be referred to as the 5-14 Programme. In Braeside, our aim is to provide children with a good all round education which will help them develop into thinking, caring and responsible members of society. Our philosophy is based on sound traditional values which have stood the test of time. School should be an exciting and stimulating place, encouraging each child to develop basic skills to enable him/her to research, find solutions to problems, express opinions and make decisions. The school is well resourced with modern teaching aids, and the curriculum is planned to allow children the use of equipment, such as computers and digital cameras. At Braeside, the child is placed at the centre of all our aims. Our teaching methods are based on the child as an individual, taking into account gender, ability and learning styles. Children may be taught as a class, within a group or on an individual basis to meet their needs at that time. |
